Waveney Valley Radio Listen Live with Waveney Valley Radio

Station Manager

Robert Sider

Robert has been inspired by music since the age of two when his parents sat him down with them and played Little Richard, Elvis, and Gene Vincent 78’s records to him on their portable Philips record player.

As a teenager in the ‘70s he was taken on by the owner of a mobile discotheque working out of Norwich and spent a couple of years DJ’ing around Norfolk with them. A proper job called but his love of music never dwindled and throughout the years whilst working in retail for Gateway Foodmarkets, The Scottish Co-operative Society and then Clydebank Co-operative Society he continued to build his collection of CD’s, Vinyl and cassettes. It was only when he took semi retirement in 2017 and had a chance meeting with the Scottish Rock Show DJ Tom Russell that he summoned up the courage to present a lunchtime show on Bute Island Radio a station on a small island 5 miles off the West Coast Of Scotland.

Returning to his native Norfolk in 2019 he did a short spell across the Xmas and New Year period with local community radio station Park Radio and from there got the inspiration to develop Waveney Valley Radio.
